In honor of World Autism Month, KPRC 2 Community is shining a spotlight on Autism Speaks and the resources they offer to help people of all ages who are living with autism.

According to Autism Speaks, “Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.” The Autism Speaks website offers information for parents and caregivers to help families recognize the symptoms of autism. There’s also an online tool kit for anyone newly diagnosed with autism, whether the patient is diagnosed in childhood or as an adult.

This year, Autism Speaks will host their annual Chef Gala fundraiser on April 27 at Bayou Music Center. KPRC 2′s Anthony Yanez and Zach Lashway will emcee the event. You can find more information and purchase tickets for this year’s Chef Gala benefiting Autism Speaks here.
