How you can go on a literary adventure as part of Houston's first bookstore crawl

HOUSTON – We’ve all heard of a bar crawl, but have you ever heard of a bookstore crawl?

It’s a fun way to explore independent bookstores across Houston, and a perfect way to celebrate Saturday’s Indie Bookstore Day.

Native Houstonian and book lover Dara Landry along with her husband opened their own bookstore in 2020.

She thought a book crawl would be great in Houston because we have so many independent bookstores, and it would get everyone out to explore Houston’s expansive literary scene.

It’s also a great way to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of each bookstore, from quiet reading nooks to bustling event spaces.

So, how does a bookstore crawl work?

Really, all you have to do is visit a participating locally-owned bookstore and pick up a bingo card from April 5 - 30, 2024. Collect a stamp at each bookstore and enter a raffle with at least ten stamps. Participants can also purchase cool exclusive crawl goodies at each stop. All cards must be turned into a participating store by the end of business hours on Tuesday, April 30.

Watch as Dara Landry - Co-Owner of CLASS Bookstore, along with Randi Null of Brazos Bookstore chat with Tessa and Lauren all about the book crawl.
