Inside the newly renovated teachers’ lounge at Silverlake Elementary for Teacher Appreciation Week

HOUSTON – Being a teacher is one of the most demanding, yet rewarding jobs a person could have - which is why celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week is so important every year.

It gives us all the reason to reach out to teachers and thank them for the countless hours they put in trying to help further their students’ educations. (among many other things they also do)

So when our friends over at Silverlake Elementary School in Pearland asked us to help them reveal their big teachers’ lounge makeover – we were so excited to join the fun!

You may not realize how important the teachers lounge is to the faculty.

It’s a place to relax and refresh for a few seconds, grab a snack, take a quick (much needed) break, or even just chat briefly with a co-worker. It’s a spot designed for teachers only. It’s like their own little hiding spot for just a few moments of the day.

Silverlake Elementary School has an incredible staff, and wonderful set of parents on their PTO board.

Home Design Content Creator and PTO Mom Dee Brown gathered her troops to make this lounge makeover happen, and it turned out fabulous!

Watch as Lauren Kelly chats with Dee, along with Silverlake PTO VP - Kendall Grundstrom, Silverlake Elementary School Counselor - Claudia Garza, and Joe Boyd of Kitchen Tune-Up Sugar Land about how this amazing surprise makeover all came together.

WE LOVE OUR TEACHERS!
