‘It’s the game I’ve been working for’: North Shore prepares for state final matchup vs. Duncanville

For yet another season the North Shore Mustangs have punched their ticket to the state championship, and for yet another season the team standing in the way of their goal is Dallas’ own, Duncanville.

This is part 5 of the storied Texas rivalry, all happening within the past six years.

“This is the game I’ve been working for,” said senior linebacker Dillon Dixon. “This is the game the seniors have been working for.”

“It’s a great rivalry - Houston vs. Dallas,” said running back D’Andre Hardeman. “It doesn’t get much better than that.”

“It’s crazy how the atmosphere is,” said first-year North Shore head coach Willie Gaston.

“We’re just ready to go out there and put on for the H, and put on for the eastside and put on for the fans that supported us this year,” said Hardeman.

North Shore comes into the game an undefeated 15-0 while Duncanville is 13-1. Duncanville’s only loss on the season is to DeSoto, who is in the 6A Division 2 state championship game. The game is at 3 p.m. at AT&T Stadium.

The Mustangs are coming off a defensive battle vs. Austin Westlake, winning 23-14.
