MLB Sources: Astros to call up top pitching prospect Spencer Arrighetti

HOUSTON – The Astros are calling up top Astros pitching prospect Spencer Arrighetti Wednesday, multiple sources tell KPRC 2, confirming a report from The Athletic.

Arrighetti, a graduate of Cinco Ranch High School in Katy, is considered the top pitching prospect in the Astros system. Arrighetti has made two starts at Triple-A Sugar Land this season, pitching to a 2.16 ERA in 8.1 innings, with 10 strikeouts and 7 walks.

Arrighetti is ranked as the #3 overall prospect in the Astros system according to MLB Pipeline, and has risen up the ranks since being drafted in the 6th round by Houston in the 2021 Draft out of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Arrighetti will fill a rotation spot opened by Framber Valdez, who was put on the 15-day IL by the Astros Tuesday.
